Mary
Benton is an Army MP stationed in Germany and assigned to nursemaid a geeky
General's son, but she soon becomes more than his nursemaid; and when terrorists
kidnap him she is his only hope.
The name Robert James Allison on the cover automatically means a good, fast read. Scholarly Pursuit, Allison's latest book, is filled with political intrigue, complete with an Al Qaeda cell, the kidnapping of the son of a four-star general who also consults for the Department of Defense, and a gutsy, female MP assigned as the young genius' body guard. Oh, and a stray Labrador Retriever that flits in and out of scenes like a ghost in the night. And, yes, Allison manages to include a romance in the tension. Scholarly Pursuit is an exciting, satisfying read with a feel-good ending. Don't miss it.
Marilyn Gardiner, Award Winning Author - When The Wind Blows
I really liked this story. It really works as romantic suspense because it is full of intrigue. The plot starts out slow, but gradually gains momentum, until at the end, it is galloping along like a racehorse! The reader is kept entirely in the dark until the very end, as revelations begin to unfold. This is definitely romance rather than erotica, and the emphasis is on the suspense and the emotional relationship between the two protagonists and the people surrounding them. The characters of Mary and Frank are each interesting and appealing in their own ways, and they are developed with skill and subtlety by the author. The secondary characters, both the “good” guys and the “bad” guys, are multi-layered rather than being one-dimensional as bit players often are. I highly recommend this well written book. I feel confident that fans of romantic suspense will find it riveting and as enjoyable as I did.
