Hannah Petrowski’s sister, Anna, disappeared thirty years ago on a golf course on old Fort Ord, California. Haunted by that disappearance, Hannah has moved back to a house overlooking the course, but is now convinced she is being stalked by the man convicted of her sister’s murder. Hannah’s ex-husband, Paul Malloy, an assistant district attorney for the county of Salinas, thinks she is just overreacting.
Ted Barnett served thirty years of a forty-year sentence for the murder of Anna Petrowski and now that he is out, he is free to put into action a plan he has been devising for most of those thirty years. Hannah’s father, George Petrowski, a retired MP, finds out that Barnett has been released and vows to make sure that his last daughter does not fall victim to Barnett.
I have to say Robert James Allison is a master at his craft. He has learned how to take the reader down one road that appears to have the ending and then quickly take you on a turn that whips around and totally disorients you, leaving you to wonder what happened. Who done it, and why, is never known until the ending and this story is no different. Complex, yet simple, this book has it all; mysterious characters clamor for your attention as years of hidden secrets are played out in a top-notch conclusion.
Hats off to you Mr. Allison, you did it again. Don't miss this one folks; a real winner
